Osprey Update

The baby is still in the nest and seems to be doing great as mom has been feeding it all morning!!  Great news!!!

Osprey Rescue

On Wednesday afternoon, an employee informed me that one of the babies had fallen out of the osprey nest of 15 Bear.  I immediately got on the phone and called Mr. Ben-Susan and we got the ball rolling to get the little one put back in the nest.  Mr Ben-Susan called his friend, Mr Doug Albert, and I called my buddy Brian "Birdman" Beckner.  Brian immediately responded and found us a lift tall enough to reach the nest and Mr Albert came over to help with the rescue.  At the end of the day, the baby osprey was reunited with mom!!  You can see the sequence of events below.

I'm Sure Its In Here Somewhere!!

I think Junior dropped a quarter under the seat and had to go find it.

Actually, what happened is that we have the best mechanics around and Junior and Shaun have almost completely disassembled the Bobcat to replace the fuel tank, which is located under the engine.  They made a few more repairs as well, which is the reason why Junior is upside down in the driver compartment.

Ditch Cleaning

This is the ditch at the top of the lake between Bear 4 tee and 9 green.  As you can see in the top picture, over the years it has filled with silt.  The silt was actually blocking a pipe that drained the cart staging area, putting green, 9 green and the bunker on 9.  Hopefully when it starts raining again this will help the water to recede a lot faster!

Two Firsts at The Forest

Now for some positive news!!!  We have two firsts at The Forest right now.  There have been a nesting pair of opreys on the platform on 15 Bear this spring and they have at least one young one in the nest right now.  We also have a screech owl that has inhabited a box on 11 Bear that was originally intended to be for red-bellied woodpeckers.
Here you can see the little one getting fed by one of the parents.  This is great to see!!
And here is our screech owl trying to get some shut eye during the day.  This is fantastic to see!!

More Safety Precautions

You may notice these posts at the tee boxes or you may have noticed the lack of ballwashers on the golf courses.  We have removed the ballwashers that are normally mounted to these posts.  It was all done as another safety precaution due to COVID-19.
